If It Wasn’t For My Blog I’d Go Crazy

“There are some days when I feel good, I’m really inspired and ideas just happen and then there are other days, when I’m not so good and blogging is a struggle”

I think we all get like this sometimes, stress piles up and we feel a little wobbly but it’s during those times that writing helps to keep me sane.

I’m in a slump at the moment but I always feel crappy around my birthday. It’s weird, it makes me feel like time is moving really quickly but I’m just a little bit too slow to catch up. I’m sure once the shock of being another year older is gone I’ll get back into the swing of being creative though.

It may sound dramatic but I honestly don’t know what I would have done with my life if I hadn’t have started a fashion blog. I’m just so grateful for wherever that idea came from. On my worst days it only takes reading a few comments or coming up with new ideas to make me feel better and on my good days I could not be more proud of how far this page has come.

I’ve always been one of those people who welcomes a distraction and to be honest I would probably still be panic attacking the shit out of life if it wasn’t for StyleRarebit. As much as I’m not where I dreamed I would be at 26 I’ve certainly come a long way since publishing my first post. For a start I now know the difference between your and you’re (took a while) and I’m definitely a little more self assured and a lot more grown up than I was back then. It’s funny how something as small as starting a blog can do that. The opportunities, positivity and friendships that have come my way since the beginning are unbelievable and just thinking about those makes me the happiest gal alive.

A little pouf goes a long way.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted an outfit post so here goes. This is pretty much my go to autumn look and my new mini bag from Parfois has become quite the essential accessory. I’m into all black at the moment, thank f*** summer is over and I can be pasty and gothy once more.

Hey Moschino

I’ve loved Moschino since I was a little girl, it was my favourite brand and a lesson in perfect dressing. Sophisticated, fun and with lots of personality but in the classiest way possible. I started collecting old pieces from eBay and Vintage stores a few years ago and I thought I would share a recent purchase with you today.m5If I’m being totally honest I’m not Jeremy Scott’s number one fan. In fact, I’m not a fan at all. I love the old Moschino shows, they were fun but with an Italian sophistication and beauty which in recent collections has been thrown out the window. I don’t want to spend thousands on a space jam inspired look and I can’t understand why anyone else would either. So my collecting is really a lesson in reminiscing, over the look that is no more.m1  m3I love this jacket, the white trim is grosgrain ribbon and it has all your classic biker features but in a light black linen. It’s a little big on me but I don’t care, I love it anyway.

dr. martens | jamila boots

dm5 Nothing like a Dr.Martens original to give a little attitude to your outfit, these boots are literally insane, the coolest shoes I think I’ve ever worn for sure. Part of the new Heeled collection, Dr.Martens are revamping their classic styles by taking inspiration from rugged fashion and skinhead looks with contemporary hardware detailing and of course a little extra height. dm4  dm1 The first thing I noticed about these was the softer leather, Wyoming has a really subtle grain and the oily finish adds to the grungy feel. It gives a much more relaxed look and I love the charcoal colour. I decided to wear them laced up for this shoot but you can just tie them to the ankle and wear them loose and they look equally amazing.  And as heavy as they look, they’re actually super light and really comfortable, pretty much the perfect winter boot and as they’re Docs you know they will last a lifetime.  dm12If your from Cardiff, like me, you can shop these and lots of other amazing shoes and accessories at their store on 36 The Hayes. However if not, log onto their website drmartens.com and while your there check out the #doctormartenstyle photos for some fashion inspiration.   dm7
